![]() Even Spider-Man briefly became Negative’s pawn in the comics, transforming into a brutal, remorseless soldier. But Negative’s most useful skill is his ability to mind control anyone he touches. He can also infuse his goons with those same powers. Powers and AbilitiesIn his negative form, Mister Negative is incredibly strong, fast, and durable, and he can charge up blades with deadly electrical energy. Not an easy goal in the Marvel Universe, which is teeming with super villain crime bosses, but hey, he managed to hold his own against the combined forces of The Hood and Norman Osborn during the Dark Reign crossover in 2009. Since escaping the clutches of the Maggia, Mister Negative has devoted himself to rising up in the criminal underworld. After arriving in New York, Li was captured by the Maggia gang and was experimented on with the same dangerous drug that created teen heroes Cloak and Dagger. He is the former director of F.E.A.S.T., the leader of the Inner. But the truth is that he was one of those crew members and took the identity of Martin Li from one of the dead passengers. Martin Li, also known as Mister Negative, is one of the two main antagonists (alongside Doctor Octopus) the 2018 superhero video game Marvel's Spider-Man and a supporting antagonist in its 2023 sequel Marvel's Spider-Man 2. Originally, he claimed to be the only surviving passenger after the crew abandoned ship in a storm. Li came to the US from China aboard a slave ship that crashed on the New York shore. ![]() If you find yourself doing okay on health, by all means use your finishers.Like many Spider-Man villains, Mister Negative has a tragic origin story. During my playthrough, I focused on using my special moves and saving my focus energy for heals instead of finishers. These waves are meant to challenge Miles both physically and mentally. In fact, you won't be fighting Li again during this boss battle. In this phase, you'll be facing off against waves of phantoms instead of fighting Martin Li head on. Li cannot face the consequences of his past, a past that he deeply regrets and wishes to atone for. When Martin Li realizes why Miles hates him, the fight comes to an end. Miles is forced to hear awful things from his family and friends while Martin Li searches for Miles' identity and weaknesses. While this is arguably the easiest part of the entire fight, it's the most emotionally gut-wrenching. Martin Li will torture Miles while peeling back the layers of who he is. This can be a little tricky, and you may find it easier to glide than swing in some instances.ĭuring the second part of phase three, Miles will face off against his fears and vulnerabilities. These can be difficult to swing around, and your best bet is to swing between them. Much like Li in the phase before this, the demon will let loose dark energy in the way of three vertical waves. Again, in the first part of the video above, the player (me) stayed too low throughout most of the chase. While you can web zip to points on the water and boost from them, staying so low during this chase isn't recommended. The best thing to do during this stage of the fight is to rely on your swinging and your gliding. ![]() The demon will summon buildings, move them around, and you'll need to navigate around them. In fact, we've included (which we usually don't) a failed attempt in the video above to demonstrate just how quickly players can lose if they don't follow closely. It can't be understated just how closely you have to follow Li's demon throughout this stage of the fight. In fact, during this entire fight, it's good to stay on the move the entire time. You'll need to use your dodge or web zip to move out of the way fast enough. This is another tough attack to avoid because Martin Li is so fast. An attempted parry will only result in Martin Li running over Miles and dealing a significant amount of damage. Trying to block or parry this attack just won't do it. This attack is telegraphed with a blue ring, meaning your only option is to dodge out of the way. While it is quick, it doesn't seem to be as fast as many of Li's other, more dangerous moves. ![]() Fortunately, you can usually sidestep this attack. Martin Li will sometimes make a quick thrust with his blade, looking to run Miles through and deal quite a bit of damage. This is a long fight, so you'll want Miles to hang onto as much of his health as possible. However, you want to do your best to avoid it, because it actually packs quite a punch. It can be tough to avoid, especially if you're close to Li when he lets it go. The best thing to do is leap over this attack. Martin Li will make a sweeping motion with his sword and release an arc of negative energy at Miles. It's going to take a lot of coordination and quick reflexes to overcome this fearsome opponent. Martin Li is back, and he seems to have grown more powerful during his time in The Raft.
