The untitled sequel to Avengers: Infinity War will release on May 3, 2019. Of course, no mutants are present in the MCU, but calling the disappearance of half of the world and its heroes "The Decimation" is a nice nod to the comics - something that directors Joe and Anthony Russo have been known to do. This name actually makes a whole lot of sense considering the circumstances. In the comics, the fallout of this mutant disappearance was called "Decimation," and now it appears as if the name will make the jump from the comics to the screen. At the end of the House of M series, Wanda Maximoff used all the might of her powers and infamously declared "No more mutants," a spell that resulted in almost all of the mutant powers disappearing from the world. The name may sound familiar to comic book fans because it does actually refer to a similar event in the Marvel Universe. And it's in that book that we learn that Thanos' Infinity Snap is officially referred to, in-universe, as "The Decimation." Erik Selvig and Darcy Lewis as they put together a team of Science Avengers to determine to cause behind the death of half of the Earth's population.
